Full Indie Interview: Daniel Silveira do Nascimento

Last week, November 18th, I had the chance to attend to the Full Indie event. The place was filled with indie game enthusiasts. Nice place to start a network if you want to join this industry.

After wandering around checking people’s work and having some chats I met Daniel Silveira do Nascimento. He is a Tech artist for the Amnia Interactive, a local indie game studio. However he wasn’t presenting any of his studio’s work. He was showing his little child: Rocket Fist. A 3D fast pacing multiplayer top-down battle game. If you like Mario kart battles and Bomberman you are going to love this game.

Daniel is working on the game by himself on his spare time for a year and he created everything on the game, from the lines of code to the character models, expect the soundtrack and sound effects. “I’m no good with sound” he said. He is planning to release his game on various platforms: Steam, XboxOne and WiiU. When asked why he is not planning to release on the PS4 he said “Microsoft and Nintendo are more open to Indies and it easier to become a licensed developer, Sony is too restrict with Indie developers.”

I was curious about why he decided to go Indie instead of venturing himself on the AAA games world and he affirmed that he is an Indie because he wants to make games that he would like to play and on an AAA company he would not have that chance. He is experienced, created more 20 games, some of the most famous are “Go home you are drunk”, “Gol da Alemanha Simulator” and Bulgari’s mission. According to him if someone wants to become an Indie developer the person needs to put their ideas out there and create their own experiences.
