Camera Flip. To gauge or not to Gauge?


Last week my Game Design Teacher, Jason Lee Elliott, gave some feedback regarding the camera flip mechanic on The Adventures of Lionel. According to him, it would be necessary a way to limit the number of times that the player can flip the camera. Or else the player would just be flipping the camera all way to the end of the stage and the puzzle and exploration part of the game would be compromised.

After some tests and other feedbacks it seems that he is right. I would have to add something to limit that action. After struggling to find a solution I decided to add a flip gauge. The flip gauge will be used every time that the player flips the camera. It will replenish itself as time passes by. The player will be limited to use the camera flip a certain amount of times. If they want to use more they will have to wait. I will implement that this week and run more tests and see how it goes.
